Basalone Wins Second Straight, Felver Wins Title

Going into their 30-lap feature, the Affordable Tire and Service Center Pro Late Models had just a small 12-point gap separating the top three drivers, Jason Felver, John Forsythe III and Defending Champion Leo Smith. Russ Cords lead the field down to Jeremy Slayden’s green flag, with Jimmy O. Smith leading the first lap. J.O. Smith would set a strong pace in the early going, but he would fall victim to Tony Basalone, who was able to sneak by. Basalone would go on to lead the final 17 laps and take his second straight feature win. Felver would finish second, with J.O. Smith, Ryan Etchison and Joe Hodgeson Jr. completing the top five. Felver won the Dash, while Mark Pettit and Hodgeson won the heat races. By virtue of his second place finish, Felver would claim the 2012 Track Championship, his first ever. He and his father, three-time Super Late Models Track Champion join Laci and Alex Donnert, Tom and Tony Hoose and Ron and Harry Parish as the only father-son Championship winning pairs at Owosso Speedway. Jeff Jostock would also be crowned 2012 Rookie of the Year
