The Owosso Speedway Sport Stocks would put on a whale of a show for their 20-lap contest on the 3/8s (.375) mile oval. Mariah Caswell would set the pace down to Jeremy Slayden’s green flag, but Chris Taylor would be the leader at the line. Harley Smith would be the leader the next time by, but 2010 Track Champion Kyle Crump would run down Smith, and she would hold him off until lap 13 when Crump claimed the lead. It would be short-lived though, when Smith got back by two laps later.
Smith would lead the field down to the white flag. Coming off of four the top two cars would make contact, with Crump sliding across the line to take the win. Smith was second with Amber Slagle, Jeremy Donnert and Mariah Caswell rounding out the top five. Smith won the heat with Kyle Crump setting fast time at a 19.591.
Next Saturday will be one of the biggest shows of the season, as the JEGS / CRA All-Stars Tour presented by GM Performance Parts will be in attendance for the Big O Classic 100. Some of the biggest names in motorsports will be there, with a huge car count anticipated for the inaugural stop for the Champion Racing Association at the Owosso Speedway. Also on the card will be the Shiawassee Shores Pro Stocks, Shattuck Specialty Advertising Pure Stocks and Owosso Speedway Sport Stocks. Racing begins at 7pm.
