The Pro Late Models are one of the two premiere divisions at the Owosso Speedway. A unique variety of different made for racing machines can and do race together very competitively in this division. These cars are designed for the track with full tubular frames and primarily made for racing parts and pieces. The engines are cast iron blocks, but that is the only OEM part on the drive train in one of these rocket fast cars. You’ll find Outlaw (wedge) Bodies and Built Engines as well as Template Bodies (Similar to a NASCAR Sprint Cup or Nationwide Series Car) and Built Engines, or even the more economical “Crate” Engine under the hood. These cars will race around the 3/8′s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval in the high 15 / low 16 second range and average over 100 mph. An average Pro Late Model team will have anywhere between $10-25,000 into their racing program.
