Holiday Tuneup is Next!

What a weekend racing event that we just had with our friends from Promise Village there to witness what it is that we do on Saturday nights! The Shiawassee Shores Pure Stocks put on show even though there were a few more cautions than we normally have. It looks like Pat Standley has his first track championship just about wrapped up. Bob Robinson and Dan Gokee will need some near perfect records for the next four weeks and Pat is going to have to suffer some bad luck each week for one of these two to catch him.

Our ten-car Sportsman feature was simply incredible as we had seven of those cars capable of winning that 30 lap race! It has been something to see all season as our rookie drivers, Blake Rowe and Kevin Cremonesi have stepped up their game considerably. Blake and Don Riley had a terrific race going on up front as they swapped the lead back and forth. Kevin had spun early in the race but he sure made up a lot of ground and passed some good cars to pull out a fourth place finish. Sixteen year old Vinnie Miller would not be denied his Victory and he needed it! Vinnie holds a slim 31 point lead over Blake and we’ve still got four races to settle this thing.

Jordan Pruitt simply amazed me with his run! Two weeks ago when the Drive Train Specialists Modifieds were here, Jordan started 11th and simply battled his way to the front to finish second while the race went caution free! I joked with Jordan before qualifying this past Saturday and I told him that I was going to make him start in the back regardless of where he qualified because I wanted to see him go to the front. He must of thought that I was serious because he went out and set Fast Time and won the Beacon Sales & Service Fast Time Award! It was amazing to watch Jordan come up through the field and then pass Laci on the bottom for the lead! It looked like that car would race anywhere on the track that Jordan chose to drive it.

This past week definitely set up the racing for our Holiday Tuneup! We are in the last quarter of our season and we have some very tight point’s battles! All four big classes of cars will be there and after a week off I’m sure that our Affordable Tire & Service Center Pro Late Models will be ready to go! Jason Felver has just a 3 point lead over Tony Basalone and just a 13 point lead over Ryan Etchison! It is definitely a three car race for the championship and I can assure you that our champion will be the driver that is the most consistent and the fastest! Keep an eye on the heat races and watch to see who is dedicated to winning that trophy! Our Drive Train Specialists Modifieds are just as close in points among the top 3 and it’s even more interesting to see how this will shake out. Laci Donnert is leading the points by 14 over his son, Alex Donnert and Adam Hudson. Alex and Adam are tied for second. Laci has been a “Bridesmaid” in the Modified division for the past three years. This could be the year that he wins his first ever, Modified championship. However, neither Adam or Alex have won a championship in this division and so it will be a battle to the end! What I really like about all three of these guys is that they will make my decision hard to figure out who will be our Sportsman of the Year for our Modified class! So Pat Standley is most likely to have his championship wrapped up but…… everything else is up for grabs and for the driver that wants it the most. This “Holiday Tuneup” should be renamed to be the “War on the Asphalt” as each race becomes more meaningful!

Make plans to be here on August 24th for the most anticipated race to date! Invite your friends and family to come on out and enjoy the best racing in the state and let’s cheer our favorite drivers on to get to D & L Marketing Victory Lane!
