Todd Binkley Gets His First Career Win!

Sept. 14, 2013 – The Shiawassee Shores Pure Stock division hit the track for 25 laps with a 17 car field. Three more cars were in the pits for mechanical issues and 5 cautions during the race saw more mechanical trouble from the toll of a long season. Point’s leader, Pat Standley lost an engine during practice and it appears that his season is over. Standley already has his first Track Championship locked up and he retains a 94 point lead over Bob Robinson going into the championship race. On this night however, it was all Todd Binkley as he led all 25 laps starting from the outside pole position. Binkley dominated the race but he was seriously challenged by Ricky Moore, EricLake and Bob Robinson. Dan Gokee, last week’s feature winner, fought his way up through the traffic in the closing laps to salvage a top 3 finish. The final caution set up a one lap shootout and Binkley would not be denied his first career win! Fast Qualifier, Bob Elliott set a new track record with a time of 18.815 and then broke his engine on the first lap of the feature event. Todd Binkley also won a heat race, as did EricLake and Steve Bates Jr.
