Jerry Garland has been racing since the age of 16. His first car was a 69 chevelle convertible that was his first car/daily driver. He soon learned the ins and outs of the small block Chevy that powered his vehicle and decided to try his local drag strip to see about going fast and what it really took to make the car go.

At the age of 19 Jerry decided to get into a form of racing that he could afford, and that was Radio Controlled Racing. Jerry has raced many venues across the states trying to become one of the elite drivers in RC and through the years he has had many sponsors helping him to accomplish his goals. He has raced mainly off road RC vehicles, but switched to RC monster trucks in 2001. It wasn’t until the 2004 race season that Jerry really took a spot on the podium! In 2004 Jerry Garland became one of only a few drivers to take the NRCTPA (National Radio Controlled Truck/tractor Pulling Association) Spring Nationals title along with the NRCTPA World Champions title. To win just one of these in a year is a feat in its self but to win both is considered impossible. Out of 450 other racers at each event, Jerry came out on top and showed the world that with older age and patience, an older driver can still compete and dominate in true fashion.

While racing RC, Jerry was helping his family and friends through the years as they raced their stock cars through out Michigan’s short tracks. He raced briefly in a street stock at auto city only to realize that he needed more money!! So with time, Jerry listened and learned and tried to become as knowledgeable as possible on stock cars.

In 2004 Jerry Garland took to the 4cyl pony stock division at Spartan speedway. With the help of family and friends Jerry won 4 feature events, set numerous fast times, and was rookie of the year and Pony stock champion all in the same year!!

Now in 2007, Jerry has purchased and revamped a 69 chevelle street stock that he is going to race competitively at Owosso speedway. With the help of his family and Torg Motorsports Jerry is hoping to have a successful year racing in the street stock division.

Jerry Garland is married to wife Stephanie and has 1 child (a daughter Sara) the age of 4, they are very supportive and understanding and try to help as much as they can to make racing a family event.

Jerry was born on October 3rd 1969 in Michigan. He works for Hyundai Motor Company out of Ypsilanti Michigan and has been in the auto field for about 19 years.

Jerry Currently lives in Pinckney Michigan and has been there about 30 years.
