Gary Angle Named Chief Starter at Owosso Speedway
Owosso Speedway is proud to announce the appointment of Gary Angle as the new Chief Starter for the upcoming racing season. With nearly 40 years of experience in motorsports, Angle brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and leadership to the flag stand.
Throughout his career, Gary has done several different duties around the tracks, serving a variety of roles from safety crew and lineup coordination to race direction. His experience spans all types of racing and surfaces, having flagged at venues like Road America and Sebring for IMSA, as well as countless dirt and asphalt tracks across Michigan.
In Michigan alone, he’s waved the flags at tracks including Birch Run, Auto City, and Owosso, making his return to Owosso Speedway as Chief Starter a special full-circle moment. Gary has also served as an official with a wide range of racing organizations, including the American Ethanol Series, Midwest Indoor Racing Series, CRA, MCR Dwarf Series, and numerous weekly programs.
He met his wife Lisa at Auto City Speedway over 30 years ago, and they’ve shared a life surrounded by motorsports. His son, Cody Angle, and stepdaughter, Katherine Prieur, are also part of this deep-rooted racing legacy.
Owosso Speedway is thrilled to welcome Gary Angle to the team and looks forward to an exciting season with his experienced hand on the flag stand.
