Up next, we have the EOD driver who turned to the Truck division in local racing, Chris Devinney. As the driver of the #07 truck from Vernon, he just finished his rookie year within the new class. However, he has raced in the local Eve of Destructions for two years. Even as a newcomer, Chris managed to place seventh in points this year and came in second place in one of the push and pull races he ran. He also received the rookie of the year award! Thanks to Darren Burton for guiding Chris and helping him get into the sport, Chris has been able to experience all of the ups and downs of racing right off the bat. His favorite part of motorsports so far is the fact that you can have so much fun with your friends and family and simply enjoy the sport of racing. While he may be new to the gig, he is already learning a lot, such as how to keep working on getting better after a hard loss and not giving up so quickly. It all just takes a bit of work. While Owosso Speedway is the only track Chris has raced at for the time being, he has always dreamed of racing there. It is his home track and he has always imagined what it would be like to race side by side with his dad (Eric) at Owosso Speedway. It's amazing to see what he has accomplished within his first year of racing in a local division, while trying to balance learning how to drive with the class and keeping his truck in the best shape possible. However, he still managed to go through three motors and two transmissions in his first year alone. Chris has some great family members who help him navigate all of the new experiences. His mom (Rachel), his dad (Eric), his wife (Emily), his mother-in-law, and his brother-in-law all support him. Chris is a huge family guy and looks up to his dad on and off the track. During the off-season, he spends as much time with them as possible, goes snowmobiling, and continues to work on cars every chance he gets. However, this year is a little different because he is now navigating life with a new baby in the house, whom he is extremely proud of. During the birth of Chris's new baby boy in the beginning of December, he actually had to have his dad go pick up his new race truck he bought, while they were still in the hospital. Teamwork makes the dream work, right? Speaking of a new baby and new race truck, Chris is actually thinking about getting into a new division for the 2023 season. So, if you keep your eye out during the Purestock races, you might see him out there! Chris has plenty of sponsors to help make that happen, including Transfleet Service, Union Station Smokehouse in Durand, Avon Marybeth Devinney, TNT Auto Glass, and R&R Salvage. Between Chris's dad and a couple of friends who make up his race night crew, I think Chris has had a great start to his racing career, and we can't wait to see what else he is able to accomplish in the upcoming seasons!
